The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Small Business has invited Gregory J. Gorgone, Chief Financial Officer of Citizant, to present testimony at a hearing titled, “Unlocking Small Business Retirement Security.”

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in Room 2360 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

Mr. Gorgone will discuss the challenges small businesses face in establishing retirement plans for their workforce and make recommendations to assist small businesses to offer retirement benefits.  One recommendation in particular would allow employers to make matching contributions to an employee’s 401(k) account based on the employee’s payments for student loans.  The IRS allowed this possibility in a Private Letter Ruling in August 2018. Citizant recommends this benefit and others proposed by the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce be provided under law so all small businesses can help their employees save more effectively for retirement.

Mr. Gorgone’s full prepared statement is available on the company’s blog.
